Menoufia University Council Holds Its Meeting Under the Chairmanship of Prof. Ahmed El-Kased and Honors Outgoing Deans
The University Council of Menoufia University convened today under the chairmanship of Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of the University, with the attendance of Vice Presidents Prof.Sobhy Sharaf (Community Service and Environmental Development) and Prof. Nasser Abdel-Bary (Education and Student Affairs), Prof. Ekramy Gamal, University Secretary-General, and the deans of the faculties.
The President opened the session by extending, on behalf of himself and the Council, heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Egyptian people on the anniversary of the 23rd of July Revolution, affirming that this revolution remains a turning point in Egypt’s modern history, embodying the aspirations of the Egyptian people for social justice and national independence, laying the foundations of the modern republic, and praising the unprecedented achievements realized during the era of His Excellency the President, which pave the way for a bright future befitting Egypt’s stature.

This recognition was in appreciation of their dedicated efforts upon reaching the statutory retirement age of sixty and the conclusion of their terms as deans. The President commended their clear contributions during their tenure and wished them continued success as professors in their respective faculties.
Prof El-Kased also congratulated Prof. Haitham Maimoun Abbas on the issuance of the Presidential Decree appointing him as Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, wishing him success in carrying out his duties. He further extended congratulations to Prof. Tarek Ibrahim, Professor of Surgery and Head of the Liver Transplant Unit at the National Liver Institute, on his election as President of the Egyptian Society of Surgeons, along with congratulations to the newly elected members of the Society’s Executive Office.
The President congratulated faculty members of the National Liver Institute who won in the elections of the Egyptian Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Imaging: Prof. Emad El-Shorbagi (President of the Society), Prof. Hazem Omar (Treasurer), and Prof Mohamed Husseiny (Board Member).
He expressed appreciation to Prof. Ayman Abdel-Hamid, former Engineering Advisor to the President of the University, for his outstanding contributions, wishing him success in his new role supervising several major national projects. He also congratulated Prof. Essam El-Din Abu El-Magd, Professor of Civil Engineering and Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, on his appointment as Engineering Advisor to the President of the University and General Supervisor of Construction Projects.
Prof. El-Kased expressed pride in the university’s advancement in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities 2025, with Menoufia University ranked 13th among 83 Egyptian universities and 1585th worldwide.
He highlighted the achievements of various faculties, including:

The Faculty of Engineering’s Electric Car Racing Team, which participated in the Formula Student UK 2025 competition at Silverstone Circuit, England, competing among more than 150 international student teams and securing 1st place worldwide in the Simulation category, 5th in Virtual Dynamic Performance, 6th in Design, 6th in Team Management, and 10th in Business Management.

The Faculty of Specific Education winning multiple top positions at the 6th Creativity Forum for Egyptian Universities hosted by Benha University.

The Faculty of Medicine and University Hospitals’ Neurology Department achieving accreditation for their Stroke Unit as a primary center by the World Stroke Organization.

The Faculty of Education winning 1st place in Chess, 3rd place in Fitness, and 3rd in Table Tennis during the first Delta Region Faculties of Education Forum held at Mansoura University.

The Faculty of Mass Communication winning 3rd place nationally in the Media Creativity Competition organized by the Foundation for Media and Digital Transformation, with its Radio and Television Department’s documentary film Study in Egypt.
The President also briefed the Council on his official visit to the University of Louisville, Kentucky, USA, in response to an invitation, accompanied by a delegation of presidents from public and private universities, to discuss joint degree programs, summer training opportunities, scholarships for outstanding students, academic exchange programs, and collaborative research. Cooperation agreements were signed between Menoufia University and Menoufia National University with the University of Louisville to establish a joint pathway for a Master of Science degree in Engineering specializations. This partnership is expected to open new horizons for academic and research collaboration, enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian universities, and provide real opportunities for students and faculty to benefit from international expertise.
The President noted that personal interviews were conducted for applicants to Chinese government scholarships as part of the international cooperation program between Menoufia University and the People’s Republic of China. Discussions on expanding collaboration were also held during the visit of the Chinese Embassy’s Education Counselor and accompanying delegation.
He reviewed key activities since the previous session, including:

Receiving a delegation from the National Center for Training and Leadership Development of the Supreme Council of Universities in the context of accrediting the University’s International Center for Faculty and Leadership Development.

Signing a cooperation protocol with the Egyptian Prisons Authority of the Ministry of Interior to provide healthcare services for inmates in correctional and rehabilitation centers.
The President announced the University Council’s approval to grant all university staff a financial bonus of EGP 2,000 to improve their welfare, stressing his commitment to supporting the administrative workforce as an essential pillar of the university’s operations.
Finally, the President reviewed reports from the Quality Assurance Center and reaffirmed that this academic year is the Year of Quality at Menoufia University, emphasizing that accreditation is not merely an administrative formality but a genuine commitment to educational excellence, institutional distinction, and building community trust in the university’s graduates.
