Prof. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, is keen to actively participate in the preparation and qualification of university leaders and to meet emerging young leaders through the training program organized by the International Center for Faculty and Leadership Development at the university. The program aims to prepare candidates for leadership positions such as dean, vice dean, and department head, and includes the participation of a large number of faculty members.

During the program, Prof. El-Kased delivered a lecture titled “Decision-Making and Problem-Solving”, emphasizing the importance of these two skills in both professional and personal life. He focused on methods for analyzing problems, identifying their root causes, and developing effective and appropriate solutions.

He praised the training programs provided by the center, which enhance faculty members’ capabilities and equip them with the necessary skills to assume leadership positions, noting that completing the training program has become one of the requirements for nomination to leadership roles, in accordance with the training plan approved by the Supreme Council of Universities.

The University President outlined a practical approach to decision-making, starting with problem identification, gathering relevant information, analyzing alternatives, selecting the optimal solution, implementing it, and evaluating the results.

Prof. El-Kased discussed the definition of a problem from various perspectives according to each trainee’s specialization and reviewed the best methods to resolve challenges facing leaders in compliance with relevant regulations and laws. He also explained the process of addressing urgent issues by gathering sufficient information and understanding all dimensions of the problem to make well-informed decisions that align with the public interest.

He also addressed the concept of a decision, its classifications and types, as well as the concept of decision-making, the mechanisms and principles that govern it, and the extent to which decisions align with the general good.

In conclusion, the University President stressed the importance of improving self-awareness to understand different challenges, enabling leaders to effectively address them and make sound decisions. He further highlighted the importance of teamwork, which he described as one of the most essential traits of a successful leader.
