At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, welcomed the committee members and extended congratulations to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the Egyptian people, and the university community on the upcoming celebration of the Prophet’s Birthday, wishing Egypt further progress and prosperity under the wise leadership of President El-Sisi.
Dr. El-Kased explained that the meeting reviewed the activities and events organized by the libraries of the university’s faculties and institutes during July, followed up on previously issued decisions, and discussed the agenda of the two sessions.
He noted that the discussions covered the work of the General Administration of University Libraries, faculty libraries, the central library, and the digital and audiovisual libraries. The meeting also reviewed the progress of book inventories, newly purchased or donated books, journals, and encyclopedias.
Additionally, the meeting followed up on the digital library’s services provided to researchers, faculty members, teaching assistants, and postgraduate students.
The President instructed faculty vice-deans to submit monthly reports on the utilization rate of the “Open Access Publishing Initiative” of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank for publishing in O1 and O2 indexed journals, emphasizing its impact on improving the university’s ranking. He stressed the importance of scientific research in advancing societies, achieving sustainable development, and realizing Egypt’s Vision 2030.
The central library also received and archived 94 master’s and doctoral theses, processed the technical operations for 113 theses, and uploaded 152 theses and 25 books to the FLS website with barcodes for accessibility.
Finally, the council was informed about the organization of training workshops for library staff and frequent visitors.
