Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, attended the informational session on the programs of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), organized by the University’s International Relations Unit, as part of the university’s strategy to support international academic cooperation and enhance opportunities for scholarships and scientific exchange.
The event was attended by Prof. Vibeke Bachmann, Regional Director of DAAD; Prof. Ghada Ali Hassan, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Prof. Khaled Ziada, Dean of the Faculty of Arts; and Prof. Mostafa Shahat, Coordinator of the International Relations Unit, in addition to a large number of deans, vice deans, faculty members, researchers, and students.
In his speech, the University President welcomed the guests, particularly Prof. Vibeke Bachmann, expressing the university’s pride in its cooperation with DAAD, which is considered one of the most prominent international institutions supporting higher education and scientific research. He noted that the session represents an important step toward expanding academic openness for the university’s students and researchers.
He added that Menoufia University is working within a clear strategic vision aimed at building effective international partnerships and providing a competitive academic and research environment at both regional and global levels.
Prof. El-Kased emphasized the university’s strong commitment to supporting researchers and enabling them to access prestigious international scholarships. He described DAAD programs as a true gateway for acquiring global experience and knowledge transfer, contributing to the advancement of scientific research and development. He also highlighted the university’s efforts to provide full support to applicants through the International Relations Unit and intensive training programs that prepare them for strong international competition.
He further pointed out that the university seeks to maximize the benefits of such partnerships through joint research projects, exchange of expertise among faculty members, and establishing sustainable communication channels with international universities, thereby strengthening the university’s global ranking and supporting its transition toward a smart global university.
The President also noted that DAAD plays a significant role in promoting international academic cooperation by funding collaborative projects between Egyptian and German universities, supporting higher education internationalization, and promoting German language learning and academic integration into German university environments.
For her part, Prof. Vibeke Bachmann expressed her pleasure in visiting Menoufia University and presented an overview of DAAD scholarship programs for students and researchers, explaining application procedures and admission requirements.
The session included a detailed presentation of DAAD programs, covering:
- Master’s and PhD scholarships
- International research collaboration grants
- Academic exchange programs
- Research fellowships and postdoctoral opportunities
Application procedures, eligibility requirements, and evaluation criteria were also presented to help researchers make the best use of these opportunities.
Ms. Heba Ahmed, Program Coordinator at the DAAD Cairo Office, explained that the agency provides comprehensive financial support for researchers, including monthly stipends, travel costs, and health insurance, in addition to advisory and academic guidance services through its Cairo office. She also highlighted the DAAD Academy in Cairo, which offers specialized training programs in research skills and competitive proposal writing.
The session concluded with an open discussion, during which questions from students and researchers were addressed. The strong engagement reflected their interest in benefiting from international opportunities in line with the university’s vision of internationalizing education and enhancing global competitiveness.
