Menoufia University, under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed El-Kased, President of the University, in cooperation with the Al-Azhar Region in Menoufia, organized an awareness-raising and educational seminar entitled "Rejecting Violence and Extremism and the Etiquette of Using Social Networks" within the presidential initiative "A New Beginning for Building the Human Being" in the presence and under the supervision of Dr. Sobhi Sharaf, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, with the aim of promoting moral and human values, spreading peace, and rejecting violence in society, and with the attendance of a large number of students from the university's faculties.
Dr. Ahmed El-Kased stressed the university's keenness to spread moral values, reject violence, and enhance belonging among university and community youth, in continuation of achieving the goals of the initiatives launched by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the New Beginning Initiative to build the human being.
Dr. Ahmed El-Kased pointed out that youth have become one of the most important mechanisms for change, and one of the most important arms for achieving sustainable development. They are the foundation on which progress is built in various qualitative fields, and they are the active segment of society, pointing to the importance of caring for youth within the family and university and the necessity of developing the capabilities of youth and enabling them to have fair life opportunities, and providing livelihoods that help them improve their quality of life, correct misconceptions, acquaint them with the concepts of correct religions, and enhance the values of belonging to the homeland.
Dr. Sobhi Sharaf pointed out the importance of rebuilding morals, protecting the Egyptian personality from drifting towards losing identity and reversing values in light of globalization and the outside world targeting to change the Egyptian personality, and the necessity of cooperation and gathering all efforts around a single vision, and setting goals and achieving them within a specific time frame to reach the desired goals in achieving societal peace and a decent life for every Egyptian citizen.
The symposium addressed many topics, including rejecting violence and extremism among young people, enhancing the values of loyalty and belonging to the homeland, the etiquette of using social media networks, and adopting science. The symposium was addressed by Dr. Mahmoud Al-Hawari, Assistant Secretary for Preaching and Religious Media at the Islamic Research Complex, Sheikh Hassan Darwish, Head of the Central Administration of the Al-Azhar Al-Monufia Media Region in Menoufia, Sheikh Sobhi Zayed, Director General of the Preaching Region for Religious Media in Menoufia, Dr. Gamal Hammad, Professor of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Jihan Sweidan, Professor of Educational and Psychological Sciences and Director of the Family and Psychological Counseling Unit at the Faculty of Economics, Menoufia University, and in the presence of a large number of Al-Azhar sheikhs, faculty members, assistant staff, and male and female students of the university.
