The workshop, presented by Dr. Sayed Al-Asraj, Director General of Libraries at the University Administration, and Mr. Ahmed Selim, Coordinator of the Digital Library Unit at the University Administration, featured an extensive discussion on mechanisms for promoting scientific research through the Egyptian Knowledge Bank and the importance of the open publishing initiative at scientific conferences. In his speech, Dr. Sayed Al-Asraj emphasized that the Egyptian Knowledge Bank is one of the most important tools provided by the state to support researchers and students, saying: "The Knowledge Bank is not just a digital library; it is an integrated platform that provides access to the latest international research and periodicals, which contributes to raising the quality of Egyptian scientific research. The Presidential Open Access Initiative also represents a qualitative shift in academic publishing policies, allowing researchers to publish their scientific papers in leading journals without incurring financial burdens, enhancing Egypt's visibility on the global scientific research map. Professor Ahmed Selim also reviewed the mechanisms for benefiting from the open access initiative, noting that: "This initiative opens the door for Egyptian researchers to participate in international conferences and publish their research in peer-reviewed journals without financial constraints. It also supports the achievement of the goals of the National Strategy for Science and Technology 2030, which aims to increase the number of research published internationally and improve the ranking of Egyptian universities in global rankings." He also explained how to register with the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, the mechanisms for publishing in open access journals, and how to benefit from funding provided for international conferences. It is worth noting that the Egyptian Knowledge Bank is one of the largest scientific libraries in the world, providing thousands of books, periodicals, and databases free of charge to Egyptian researchers, while the open access initiative aims to cover the costs of publishing in prestigious scientific journals for Egyptian research institutions.
