Menoufia University Continues Its Global Research Excellence with a New Achievement in Nature Index 2026 Reflecting the Strength of International Publishing

Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, affirmed that the university continues to consolidate its research position at both the regional and international levels following the achievement of a new scientific milestone in the Nature Index 2026, which is considered one of the world’s most prominent indicators for measuring the quality and impact of research published in leading international scientific journals.

Prof. El-Kased added that Menoufia University ranked 5,380 globally among all research institutions and 12th among Egyptian universities included in the ranking, which featured forty universities. The university also advanced in the academic classification dedicated to universities to rank 2,852 globally, reflecting the university’s steadily rising institutional performance in scientific research and international publishing.

The University President explained that the university published four original scientific research papers this year in journals indexed by Nature Index, representing an achievement that reflects the development of the scientific research system and the university’s continuous support for researchers and encouragement of international publication in the world’s highest-impact journals.

Prof. El-Kased pointed out that the published research covered several vital scientific disciplines, including physical sciences, earth and environmental sciences, and health sciences, confirming the university’s growing scientific presence in competitive research fields and its ability to keep pace with global scientific research priorities.

Regarding subject rankings, he explained that the university achieved 7th place nationally in Earth and Environmental Sciences, 12th in Physical Sciences, and 31st in Health Sciences, emphasizing that these results reflect the quality of research outputs and the diversity of scientific schools within the university.

He further noted that the four research papers were published in prestigious international scientific journals, including Applied Physics Letters, Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, European Heart Journal, and Journal of Hepatology, reflecting the scale of international scientific collaboration between the university’s researchers and their counterparts at research institutions worldwide.

The University President also confirmed that the total contribution share of Menoufia University in these research papers reached 0.35 according to the “Share” metric, which is one of the principal indicators adopted by Nature Index to measure the actual contribution of research institutions to international scientific production.

Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased extended his appreciation and gratitude to all researchers, faculty members, teaching assistants, and the academic and administrative sectors that contributed to achieving this accomplishment. He affirmed that this achievement is the result of collective work and an institutional vision aimed at enhancing the university’s global standing. He also congratulated all members of the university community on this distinguished international progress, expressing his confidence in the university’s ability to achieve further successes in the coming years.

Prof. El-Kased stated: “We take pride in the distinguished international presence achieved by Menoufia University researchers in one of the world’s most important indicators for evaluating scientific research. We are working according to a clear strategy aimed at supporting researchers, enhancing international publishing, and linking scientific research to development and community needs, thereby contributing to building a smart university capable of competing regionally and internationally.”

For his part, Prof. Hatem Sayed Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information and Supervisor of the University Information Center, affirmed that the progress achieved by Menoufia University in the Nature Index reflects the success of the university’s strategy in supporting digital transformation and developing information and research infrastructure.
