Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, invited university students to participate in the 2026 University Waste Management Competition, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in cooperation with the Leadership Development Institute and the Innovators and Talents Welfare Fund, under the slogan "We Recycle.. We Innovate.. We Build". The competition aims to support student innovation and promote a culture of sustainability and environmental preservation within Egyptian universities.

Prof. Ahmed El-Kased emphasized that the participation of Menoufia University students in the competition reflects the university's commitment to encouraging its students to develop innovative ideas and practical solutions to environmental challenges, particularly those related to reducing waste, recycling, and improving waste collection and sorting mechanisms. He noted that supporting student innovation represents one of the key pillars of the university's strategy to build a generation capable of transforming knowledge and ideas into projects and solutions that serve society.

The President of the University said that the competition represents a real opportunity for students to showcase their creative abilities and present applicable ideas in the field of sustainable waste management. He stressed that the university encourages all students to participate without waiting to come up with a perfect idea, noting that "a simple idea, when developed and supported, can turn into an innovation that makes a real difference to the environment and society."

Prof. El-Kased explained that the university is keen to participate in initiatives and competitions launched by institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education, given their role in discovering student talents, supporting innovation, and linking student activities to sustainable development issues. He emphasized the importance of integrating the efforts of the Ministry, universities, and organizations supporting innovation to create an environment that encourages young people to innovate.

The competition is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students. Participants are required to form teams of 3 to 5 students, competing across four main tracks: Smart Technology and Artificial Intelligence; Engineering Innovation; Creative Design and Awareness; and Green Economic Models.

The competition is part of efforts to promote environmental awareness within Egyptian universities and encourage students to develop innovative solutions that contribute to reducing, reusing, and recycling waste and improving collection and sorting processes. It also encourages the development of economic models that create value from waste and support the concept of the green economy.
