Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased, President of Menoufia University, chaired the meeting of the Supreme Committee for Information Technology and Institutional Digital Transformation, in the presence of Prof. Sobhy Sharaf, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Ghada Ali Hassan, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Prof. Hazem Saleh, former Vice President of the University; Mrs. Souad Bayoumi, Acting Secretary-General of the University; in addition to members of the committee.
The University President affirmed that the meeting comes within the framework of closely monitoring the implementation of the university’s strategic plan for digital transformation and reviewing mechanisms for developing the information technology system in line with the state’s orientation toward digital transformation. He noted that these efforts support the transition to integrated electronic administration and enhance the quality and efficiency of educational and administrative services provided within the university.
Prof. El-Kased expressed his satisfaction with the tangible achievements accomplished during the recent period, which reflect the university’s commitment to implementing the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030 and consolidating its position as a smart educational institution based on knowledge and innovation. He emphasized the importance of collective work, benefiting from scientific expertise, and engaging students in development and digital transformation efforts.
He further pointed out that Menoufia University is moving steadily toward the future through adopting the latest digital technologies and developing information infrastructure. He affirmed that the university aims to become a regional center of expertise in the fields of digital transformation while maintaining full commitment to the ethics of technology use and data governance.
The University President added that the coming phase will witness an expansion in the applications of artificial intelligence and data analysis within the university system in a manner that contributes to supporting decision-making, improving the quality of the educational process, and enhancing the efficiency of healthcare services at university hospitals. He praised the efforts exerted in the university hospitals automation project and emphasized, at the same time, the importance of investing in human resources and digitally qualifying them as the fundamental pillar for the success of sustainable institutional transformation.
In this context, Prof. El-Kased stressed the necessity of developing the digital system to be capable of adapting to rapid changes and supporting innovation and digital entrepreneurship within the university, thereby strengthening its competitiveness regionally and internationally and enabling the presentation of successful models applicable across various state institutions.
The University President explained that the university possesses an advanced e-learning platform in accordance with international standards, praising the new electronic portal (New Portal), which represents a qualitative leap in providing digital services, simplifying procedures, enhancing effective communication, and making knowledge accessible to all university affiliates.
He also stressed the importance of securing data centers and the university’s digital infrastructure against physical and cyber threats, noting the renewal of Firewall system licenses at Egyptian universities, including Menoufia University.
During the meeting, the minutes of the first session for the 2025/2026 academic year were approved, and several vital files were reviewed, including the status of renewing Microsoft software licenses and academic البريد الإلكتروني, the report on securing data centers, and the progress rates achieved in the new electronic portal.
The committee also discussed the electronic payment system for student fees, the university dormitories application platform, and the memorandum concerning contracting internet lines for university dormitory panels within the framework of the cooperation protocol with the Egyptian Company for Data Transmission.
Prof. Ahmed Farag El-Kased further indicated that the meeting addressed the latest developments in the university hospitals automation project, praising the progress achieved in the university hospitals and medical sector, as well as the proposed vision for linking electronic examination centers outside the complexes (theoretical, medical, and engineering), including the Faculties of Education and Sports Sciences. The University President directed the formation of committees to manage and organize work at these centers.
The meeting also reviewed the progress achieved in the electronic documents system, postgraduate studies automation plans, and the development of the current portal, in addition to discussing mechanisms for verifying official pages and establishing a unified editorial policy for the university and its faculties.
The meeting further discussed the status of Information Technology Units (IT Units) at the faculties and the job descriptions of their staff members, in a manner that contributes to improving performance efficiency and achieving integrated institutional digital transformation.
The meeting was attended by a number of faculty deans, vice deans, and leaders of the Information Technology sector, including Prof. Hatem Sayed Ahmed, Prof. Mohamed Saafan, Prof. Osama Abdel Raouf, Prof. Hossam Awad, and Prof. Gamal Mahrous, in addition to leaders from the Faculties of Computers and Information, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Science, and Electronic Engineering; Prof. Mina Saafan, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence; Dr. Amr Massaad; Dr. Gamal El-Din Selim; Eng. Shaaban Mansour, Director General of the Information Center; and committee members.
